Welcome to The Long Island Bicycle CoOp
At the Long Island Bicycle CoOp, we are more than a bike shop; we are a community-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to making Long Island a safer, healthier, and more connected place through cycling. Whether you are just starting out or you’re an experienced cyclist, our doors are open to everyone.
Suffolk County: Visit us at 8 Flowerfield, Suite 18, Saint James. Enter through the middle of Building 8 and look for our banners and bike rack. We are open Wednesday & Thursday (6–8 PM) and Saturday (11 AM–2 PM). Donations of bikes can be left on the bike rack at any time.
Nassau County: Visit us at 15 Burke Ln, Syosset on Thursday nights from 6-9pm. The door is on the south side between the building and the car wash. There are no off-hour donations accepted at Syosset.
To keep things fair for everyone, please keep in mind:
- We can provide one bike per person at a time.
- The person receiving the bike (child or adult) must be there in person.
- A release form will need to be filled out at pickup.
- Upon request, a receipt for your tax deductible donation can be provided to you.
We’re excited to welcome you to the CoOp and help you get rolling. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out at [email protected].
We need your help!
The Long Island Bicycle Coop has lost its private funding and we are in danger of closing our doors at the St. James, Suffolk County location. We have had to cut our in house youth “young mechanics” program as well as our programs in the public schools. We are reaching out to the public for donations to help us sustain.
LIBC accepts donated bicycles, our volunteers refurbish them, and we give them away for free to the public. We gave away approximately 2000 bicycles last year. Our mission by giving away bicycles is to help needy families, encourage a healthy lifestyle and to keep used bicycles out of landfills. We need your help to continue to fulfill our mission.
Our Mission
We believe that cycling empowers communities, fosters mobility, and strengthens social and environmental well-being. Through education, repairs, and equitable access, we strive to create a healthier, more connected Long Island—one rider at a time.
