Donate a Bike

Long Island Bicycle Co-Op can do what it does because of thousands of generous used bike donations from the Long Island community. Your donation is a building block for our biking community, our education and advocacy work, and our programs to benefit our friends and neighbors.

Where and when can I drop off my donation?

As a small, not for profit organization, our resources are limited. As such, we are not able to pick up bikes being offered for donation.

Q.

What kind of bike things does the Co-Op accept?

A.

Lots of things!

We accept all types of bikes:

  • Adult bikes AND children’s  bikes that still have plenty of miles of life left on them
  • Unused and packaged parts

What we can’t repurpose; we’ll recycle for you.

Q.

What will happen to my bike donation?

A.

It will help support our mission

Your bike and parts donation will support our great mission that bicycles are accessible and sustainable transportation:

  • Bikes are given freely throughout the communities we serve through the bike giveaway events we host.

Every donation helps serve our mission to get more Long Islanders on bikes!

Q.

Is my donation tax deductible?

A.

Yes

Long Island Bicycle Co-Op is a tax exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization. You will be offered a tax receipt for proof of your donation at time of drop off.

Q.

What if I can’t get to St. James to make a donation during hours of operation?

A.

It’s Easy

If it’s more convenient for you, please keep in mind that bikes can be dropped off at St. James at any time. If you’d like to drop off at any time outside of our operating hours, just place your donation in the rack located in front of the shop.
