Requesting a Bicycle from the Long Island Bicycle Co-Op

The Long Island Bicycle Co-Op is dedicated to supporting accessible, safe cycling for everyone in our community. If you or your organization is in need of a bicycle, we are here to help. To ensure we serve as many people as possible, please review our simple guidelines below when making your bicycle request.

Who Can Request a Bike?

Individuals

Individuals may request one bike only.

Organizations & Institutions

Businesses, community groups, schools, or nonprofit organizations may request up to 15 bicycles per request, subject to available inventory.

Types of Bikes Available

Children’s Bikes

Safe, reliable bicycles suitable for various age groups

Adult Bikes

Comfortable, practical bicycles for commuting, leisure, or general use

Combination Requests

Requests may include both children’s and adult bikes, tailored to your organization’s needs

Functional Requirements

If you have specific functional requirements (e.g., commuter bikes, adaptive cycling needs, special sizing), please clearly outline these when making your request. We strive to accommodate special requests as inventory permits.

How to Make Your Request

To request a bike, please:

  1. Send an explanatory email to [email protected], clearly stating:
    • Whether you are an individual or representing an organization.
    • Number and type (children’s/adult’s/combination) of bikes requested.
    • Any specific functional requirements.
  2. We will review requests promptly and contact you with availability and next steps.

Important Notes:

  • Availability of bikes is limited and subject to current inventory.
  • Requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis, prioritizing need and availability.
