About The Long Island Bicycle Co-Op

Empowering communities, fostering sustainable transportation, and promoting bicycle advocacy throughout Long Island.

The Long Island Bicycle Co-Op is a vibrant nonprofit organization (501(c)(3)) dedicated to empowering Long Island communities through bicycle advocacy, education, and community engagement. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, health, and safety, we work tirelessly to promote cycling as an accessible, safe, and enjoyable mode of transportation for everyone, from students and commuters to retirees and families.

Our Mission

We believe that cycling empowers communities, fosters mobility, and strengthens social and environmental well-being. Through education, repairs, and equitable access, we strive to create a healthier, more connected Long Island—one rider at a time.

Our History

Founded in 2019 on the belief that bicycles can transform communities, The Long Island Bicycle Co-Op emerged as a response to the growing need for safe, sustainable transportation alternatives and community-focused cycling resources. Since our founding, we have:

  • Delivered countless educational workshops teaching essential bike maintenance and safe cycling practices.
  • Refurbished and distributed thousands of donated bicycles to underserved communities across Long Island.
  • Built strong partnerships with local governments, schools, businesses, and community organizations to amplify our impact.

Our journey has been shaped by the community itself, continually inspired by the passion, commitment, and resilience of our volunteers and supporters who champion a healthier, more sustainable Long Island every day.
